Consortium
The consortium consists of six full-time partners from the five European countries Belgium, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, and United Kingdom. Four of these partners are higher education institutions, while two partners are national research centres. These partners were selected for the consortium based on their excellent and complementary track record in areas critical to VIACTORS, namely: Variable impedance actuators, Robotic manipulation, Locomotion, Human modelling, Novel actuation principles, Prosthetics and rehabilitation, Nonlinear control of mechatronic systems.
For the selection of the partners the interdisciplinarity of each partner institute was a prominent issue. All of the partners cover two or more of the abovementioned research areas, with the purpose of guaranteeing a high level of integration between the partners. Common goals in past research facilitates the integration at all levels of communication (PI, postdocs and students), and an exchange of students during the project can thus very efficiently be realised.
